About the Program

Responding to the need for essential life and employment skills training among the chronically unemployed and unemployed who are homeless in our community, board and staff of NCRC developed the Back to Basics (BtB) program, drawn from time-tested methods utilized across the country. The program is individualized for each participant to best help them to discover their own strengths, and to develop better skills as they re-claim the directions in which their lives will move. Program components include anger management, personal finance management, and interpersonal communications, among other modules to prepare for the workplace and/or to increase self-sufficiency. NCRC staff work one-on-one with participants, assisting to prepare individuals for the workplace and then help to secure long-term employment. 49 Back to Basics participants’ secured long-term employment during 2008. Other participants are disabled and in need of life-coping skills and re-integration and community participation activities. This program is fully integrated with all other services and programs offered by Endeavor.
