About the Programs

Finding and maintaining housing, or finding temporary shelter, can be a challenge for many low and no-income individuals. Many disabled individuals require supportive housing that is unavailable at an affordable rate locally and many of these individuals find themselves homeless as a result. Others have never been taught how to manage finances or to be a good neighbor. North Coast Resource Center hopes to obtain properties to offer both Emergency Shelter and to partner with other local agencies to increase the availability of transitional shelter, while clients work with case managers to secure more permanent arrangements. In the meantime NCRC operates the first successful Extreme Weather Shelter (EWS), a program now used as a model in other local communities and by other nearby counties. Additionally we refer and facilitate intake for other local shelter services.
